Vernner Davidson

Vernner “Davy” Davidson, age 68, of Coinjock, NC passed away on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at Vidant Roanoke Chowan Hospital. He was born in Norfolk, VA on May 19, 1954 to the late Vernner R. Davidson, Jr., and Naomi Hutton Davidson. In his occupation, he worked in sales and in real estate. As a Christian, Davy tried his best to be a good person – he was a very generous man with a natural quick wit that could leave a room in stitches and he loved his grandchildren with all of his heart. He absolutely loved the beach and being in the water on his boat. He was an exceptional craftsman and excelled in woodworking and landscape design.

He is survived by daughters, Jennifer Klekas (Bill), and Kimberly Stairs (Matt); a son, Tom Roucek II (Lisa); three sisters, Jeanne Davidson, Linda LaRoche (Clark), and Sharon Clerkin (Tim); a brother, Joseph “Joey” Davidson (Sandy); six grandchildren, Whitney Kovar (Andy), Autumn, Mckenzie and Taylor Stairs, and Kiley and Riley Roucek; one great-grandchild, Dakotah Avery Beene; many nieces and nephews; and his dog, Gigi. He was preceded in death by a sister, Sandra Whitson and two brothers, James R. Davidson and Jace Ray Davidson.

Let not your heart be troubled: you believe in God, believe also in Me. In my Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there you may be also. 

A funeral service will be held at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, August 26, 2022 at Woodlawn Memorial Chapel with Minister Bill Klekas officiating. Please feel free to dress casual or beach attire in honor or Davy’s love for the beach.  Burial will be in Woodlawn Memorial Gardens, 6329 East Virginia Beach Blvd., Norfolk, VA  23502.
