Rock The Cape will return to Hatteras Island on Wednesday, June 2 for a full day of art and music at Kitty Hawk Kites’ Waves Village Watersports Resort in Rodanthe.
“Kitty Hawk Kites is thrilled to welcome Rock the Cape to Waves Village Watersports at milepost 40,” said Kitty Hawk Kites’ Marketing Director Ben Saltzman. “This is such a fun, community-oriented event that celebrates the creativity of Outer Banks artists, and we are proud to be a part of it!”
The family-friendly, free event will start with an artisan market and conclude with a concert.
The Rock The Cape Island Art Show will begin at 12pm on the lawn at Kitty Hawk Kites’ Rodanthe location. Artists wishing to participate, can sign up online at DareArts.org/rockthecape. The application deadline is Friday, May 21.
“The Hatteras Island Arts and Craft Guild is very excited to have the Rock the Cape event on Hatteras Island again this year,” said Hatteras Island artist and Vice President of the Hatteras Island Arts and Crafts Guild Stephanie Kiker. “Let’s celebrate the island artists, whether it’s music, painting, ceramics, photography and so much more. While on the island remember to visit the many wonderful galleries that all feature local art.”
Live music will begin at 2 p.m. with Hatteras Island musician Rory Kelleher playing at the art show.
Starting at 5pm Hatteras musicians Izzy Pop, Mary Joy McDaniel, and The Mumz will kick off a sunset concert on the deck at Good Winds Restaurant. Guests are encouraged to bring blankets and beach chairs to enjoy the free live music.
Making their Hatteras Island debut, Stereo in Words will close out the evening with original music that is heavily influenced by the alternative college rock of their youth.

The art show and concert will be following all federal and state guidelines regarding COVID-19, while providing a safe and fun experience.
Rock The Cape was started in 2012 as an initiative to celebrate the galleries, artists, and artistic community on Hatteras Island.
