Big fish, a big fire, tragic accidents, fake news and new records were among the top stories of 2021 on the Outer Banks. As 2021 comes to an end, we’re looking back at the most-read stories at OBXToday.com.

Back in January, Tatum Love suffered critical injuries in a two-vehicle crash in Kill Devil Hills.

After spending weeks in intensive care at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital and then a rehabilitation center in the Atlanta-area, she has returned home, and defied everything some of the best doctors in the country said she could do.

The Outer Banks community showed their love for Tatum throughout her recovery, raising more than $7,500 in one day alone during a fundraiser at Slice Pizzeria in February.

Tatum was back at First Flight High School this fall and is on track to graduate in June. She even stopped by the 99.1 The Sound studios to make a guest appearance on-air.
