The North Carolina Beach Buggy Association (NCBBA) recently presented a $5,000 donation to the Cape Hatteras United Methodist Men (CHUMM), which is one of many local and community-oriented organizations that the NCBBA supports.

The check was presented by NCBBA’s Jay Dimig to Dennis Carroll, Director of CHUMM, at the organization’s December membership meeting.

“[CHUMM’s] services include Ocracoke Island storm recovery from Dorian, long-term storm recovery – particularly elevating trailers out of flood zones – and their members are always available to provide early response for emergencies,” stated Tom Brueckner, NCBBA Director. “In addition, CHUMM has helped over 90 families in 2021 with food, rent, utilities, medical emergencies, and other needs. NCBBA is proud to support the all-volunteer organization who continue to impact the lives of many on Hatteras Island.”

CHUMM is celebrating its 44th year of service in 2022, and donations and support are continually needed on a local level to keep all CHUMM initiatives going strong.

The public can donate via the Cape Hatteras Unites Methodist Men website at https://www.hatterasmethodistmen.org/, and supporters can also donate by mail. Checks should be written to United Methodist Men and mailed to Cape Hatteras United Methodist Men, P.O Box 1591, Buxton, NC 27920.
