John Robert Wright, Jr., 65, of Wanchese, NC, passed away on June 7, 2022.
He was predeceased by his father John Robert Wright, Sr., and brothers Michael Sawyer, Ronald Sawyer, Timothy Von Wright, and Danny Tyson Wright. He leaves behind his life partner, Mary Susan Etheridge (daughter Ricki Leigh and grandchildren Libby and B), mother Marian Hope Dough (Walter Allen), sister Johnna Catherine Bonet Wright, and stepbrother Thomas Allen Dough (Sarah).
Johnny was a dedicated commercial fisherman for all his life. He grew up on the Outer Banks and loved surfing, all watersports and boating, sports (watching Sunday football was a favorite pastime), and animals, especially his dogs, Bandit and Olivia. He was a fun soul for kids to be around— always having a joke or making them laugh.
A funeral service and celebration of life will be held in his honor at 3:00 pm on Wednesday, June 15, 2022, at Twiford Colony Chapel in Manteo, NC.
