Ernest “Ray” Ballance Jr., 54, of Hatteras, NC passed from this life to his eternal reward on Friday, September 20, 2019, with loving family by his side.
Ray was a lifelong resident of Hatteras village and a lifelong commercial fisherman. He was especially known for his passion for clamming.
He was preceded in death by his father, Ernest Ray Ballance, Sr. He is survived by his mother, Cora Ballance of Hatteras, NC; a sister, Mary Sue Gray and husband Bryan of Avon, NC; a nephew, Bryan Gray, Jr. and wife Kala, a great-nephew, Mason all of Wilmington, NC; and a niece, Brittany Stowe and husband Charles of Cary, NC. He is also survived by an uncle and aunt, Eris and Gilda Waterfield of Buxton, NC, as well as many cousins and friends.
A memorial celebration will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, September 26, 2019, at the Hatteras Assembly of God Church. The service will be officiated by Pastor Durwood Willis and Rev. Bryan Gray.
