Daniel Benjmain Midgett

Daniel Benjamin Midgett, lovingly known as Ben, passed away on July 8, 2023, at his home in Manns Harbor, NC. He was 78. 

A native of Manns Harbor, born on February 20, 1945, to the late Leona Basnight Midgett and Thomas Hunter Midgett, Sr. 

After graduating from Manteo High School, Ben served his country honorably and was a Vietnam veteran of the United States Army. 

Ben was a marine maintenance facility diesel mechanic for the NCDOT. He had a passion for tinkering with cars, junking, crabbing, shrimping, and working on motors. Ben always had a smile on his face and was known for his joyful and friendly nature. He had a wide circle of friends who cherished him for being one of a kind.

Ben was a member of Harbor Light Church, where he found comfort and strength in his faith. He deeply valued his relationships and was devoted to his family. 

Ben is survived by his wife, Linda Bibb Midgett, and his daughters, Dana Beasley (Ty) and Michelle Wright (Clay), all of Manns Harbor. He will be lovingly remembered by his grandchildren: Chelsea Wilson (Michael) of Winterville, Tyler Beasley (Alison) of Manns Harbor, Sarah Beasley of Nashville, TN, Kamry Wright of Manns Harbor, and Mason Wright of Manns Harbor. Additionally, Ben leaves behind four great-grandchildren, William, Charlotte, Simon, and Camilla. He is also survived by his sister, Mary Alice Twiddy (Mike); his nephew, Michael Hunter Twiddy; his niece, Shana Seal (Bobby); and several cousins.

In addition to his parents, Ben was preceded in death his brother, Thomas Hunter Midgett, Jr.

A funeral service will be held at 2:00 pm on Thursday, July 13, 2023, at Harbor Light Church in Manns Harbor. Private burial will take place in Mt. Carmel Methodist Church Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to Harbor Light Church (PO Box 179, Manns Harbor, NC 27953).
