Stormwater drain improvements, a new water main, sidewalks and repaving are among the work that is now underway along West Third Street in Kill Devil Hills.
Fred Smith Company was awarded a $2.6 million contract for the work taking place between Bay Drive and North Croatan Highway that is scheduled for completion in late spring 2022.
Periodic closures of intersections with the streets crossing West Third will take place at times throughout the project.
Installation of the new water pipes began on the Bay Drive end and will proceed eastward. And the storm drainage work will begin this month.
