Woody Ross McDaniels

Woody Ross McDaniels, age 61, of Elizabeth City, NC died on Tuesday, May 25, 2021 at Sentara Albemarle Hospital. He was born in Elizabeth City on September 26, 1959 to the late Thomas Lee “Tom” McDaniels and Aileen Creech McDaniels.

Woody graduated from Northeastern High School in 1977 and went on to attend the University of North Carolina Wilmington, Chowan College, and Atlantic Christian College where he made many lifelong friendships. Family and friends were everything to him and it showed in his smile and laughter. Of all of his “titles” throughout his life, “Pop Pop” was his favorite.

He is survived by his daughters, Karin McDaniels and Krystle McDaniels and their mother, Lauri; his brothers, Bill McDaniels, Bob (Jenny) McDaniels, Mark (Laura) McDaniels; two sisters-in-law, Jean and Shelly; one grandchild, Grady Christian; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by two brothers, Steve McDaniels and Eric McDaniels; a niece, Michelle McDaniels Carver; a great-niece, Aaliyah Marie McClease; and a great-nephew, James Robert Martin.

A funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, May 28, 2021 at Corinth Baptist Church with the Rev. Clay Manos, the Rev. Chad Thomas, and the Rev. Joey Hobbs officiating. The family will greet visitors immediately following the service at the church.

A visitation will be held on Thursday evening from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at Twiford Memorial Chapel. Burial will be in West Lawn Memorial Park Cemetery.
