William Howard Jones, age 80, of Camden, NC, died on Sunday, February 26, 2023, at his residence. He was born in Camden on November 16, 1942, to the late Gertrude Jordan Jones and William Burwell Jones. Howard was the widower of Brenda Sanders Jones to whom he was married for fifty-one years prior to her death. He was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church and a charter member of the Camden County Volunteer Fire Department. Howard worked for George Wood Farms and C&L Concrete as a truckdriver until his retirement. He enjoyed gardening, cutting the grass, and was an avid collector of John Deer tractors of all kinds. He could and did drive anything with wheels and an engine and loved his family dearly.
He is survived by his daughter, Sharon Renee Jones Crider; granddaughter, Blair Elizabeth Wentz (Ryan) and grandson, Cooper Thomas Crider, all of Camden, NC; his beloved grand dog, Nellie; and several extended family members.
A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, March 2,2023 at Shiloh Baptist Church with Reverend Tommy Berry officiating. Burial will take place in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends immediately following the service in the church fellowship hall and other times at the daughter’s residence, 249 Perkins Road, Camden, NC.
