Weekend long celebration of fandom to feature celebs from TV, movies, animation, and more in Richmond, VA

GalaxyCon, the premier pop culture convention, is set to make a triumphant return to the Richmond Convention Center from March 15-17 for its highly anticipated Richmond edition. The event promises an immersive experience for fans of comics, sci-fi, fantasy, anime, and gaming, featuring celebrity guests, panel discussions, interactive activities, and an expansive exhibitor floor.

GalaxyCon events have become a staple in the cultural landscape of Richmond, contributing significantly to the local economy. Previous editions of GalaxyCon have consistently attracted tens of thousands of attendees, with a substantial economic impact for the region of more than $2.5 million in 2023. Local businesses, hotels, and restaurants have all benefited from the influx of visitors, showcasing the convention’s positive influence on the community.

GalaxyCon founder and owner, Mike Broder, expressed his enthusiasm for the upcoming event, stating, “We’re thrilled to bring GalaxyCon back to Richmond for another fantastic celebration of pop culture. The support from the Richmond community has been overwhelming, and we can’t wait to deliver an unforgettable experience for fans and continue contributing to the vibrant local economy.”

The company is adding to the recent success of Richmond’s inaugural GalaxyCon Presents Nightmare Weekend, which made its debut in October of 2023. Nightmare Weekend, a horror-themed spinoff event, garnered widespread acclaim for its spine-chilling attractions, celebrity guests from the horror genre, and immersive experiences. The positive reception from attendees and the success of Nightmare Weekend further solidify GalaxyCon’s position as a versatile and dynamic event organizer.

Jeremy Phillips, General Manager of the Greater Richmond Convention Center, expressed his anticipation for the upcoming GalaxyCon Richmond, stating, “GalaxyCon has proven to be a tremendous partner for the Greater Richmond Convention Center, bringing diverse and engaged audiences to our city. We are proud to host such an exciting event and look forward to welcoming fans and guests from all over for another spectacular weekend.”
