Water service restored along section of Beach Road in Nags Head

Water service has been restored to properties along the South Virginia Dare Trail in Nags Head between Eighth Street and Baltic Street, including Oneto Lane, following an overnight construction in the mile post 10 area.

Service was scheduled to be restored Tuesday morning, but last night’s bad weather delayed the work and restoration was held up until around 1 p.m.

Water service was slowly being restored, according to a news update from the town, and was expected to be back at full pressure by 2 p.m.

A Water System Pressure Advisory will be in effect for approximately 24-to-48 hours while testing of several water samples takes place to ensure the water is free of harmful bacteria.

Consumers must boil all water for human consumption, including drinking, making ice, brushing teeth, washing dishes and food prep.

Vigorous boiling for one minute should kill any disease-causing organisms that may be in the water. Once a test of the water has confirmed the absence of harmful bacteria the advisory will be rescinded. Those results are expected about 24 hours later.
