Six sea turtles treated and rehabilitated at the North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island headed home Saturday on Hatteras Island.

The turtles were released at the Frisco Bath House. Caretakers chose southern Hatteras Island because the water there is warmer.

The four loggerhead sea turtles and two green sea turtles were treated at the Sea Turtle Assistance and Rehabilitation (STAR) Center at the aquarium, and were recently cleared for release by the veterinary team.

Of the turtles, five recovered from being cold-stunned this past winter, and the sixth and largest, Ada, was deemed healthy again after healing from an entanglement.
