Wanda JoAnn Becknell Tarkington, age 75, of Elizabeth City, NC died Saturday, May 7, 2022 at Sentara Albemarle Medical Center. Born in Pasquotank County, NC on November 28, 1946 to the late Claude Becknell and Margaret Godfrey White, she was the widow of Dallas Tarkington and was employed by ABC Uniform Express for over 20 years.
She is survived by a son, Larry White (Nicole) of Ocala, FL; a daughter, Billie Jo Hughes (Leroy Parsells) of Camden, NC; four grandchildren, Christopher White, Michael Hughes, Matthew White and Mackenzie Parsells; and two great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her brother, Harvey Becknell.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 10, 2022 at Twiford Memorial Chapel with the Rev. F. Joe Griffith officiating. Burial will be in New Hollywood Cemetery. The family will receive visitors after the service in the lobby of the funeral home and other times at her daughter’s home, 205 Smith Drive, Camden, NC 27921.
