Food Bank of the Albemarle is pleased to announce a donation from Wake Stone Corporation in the amount of $5,000 to support the food bank’s hunger-relief efforts.
“Food Bank of the Albemarle is proud to include Wake Stone in the fight against hunger in northeastern NC,” said Liz Reasoner, Executive Director. “We look forward to a continued partnership to alleviate hunger in our communities, at a time when it is more critical than ever before.”
Knightdale-based Wake Stone Corporation’s donation of $5,000 will provide support for general food bank operations and food distribution. Wake Stone’s gift comes at an especially critical time, as the Food Bank continues expanding both the main facility and distributions to meet the growing need across 15 counties.

Over the past nine months, the Food Bank’s food distribution has increased dramatically. Demand for food increased in key areas of the 15-county service area served by the Food Bank by 15% to 21%, driving up distribution by 2 million pounds over the same period in 2019.
In early 2016, the Food Bank adopted Feeding America’s “Bold Goal” to more meals to those faced with hunger; there by closing the meal gap by 2025. To meet this goal, total distribution must increase by 11% each year.
“Financial support of the Food Bank is critical,” Reasoner added. “We appreciate every donor and supporter that gives to help continue the Food Bank’s mission of fighting hunger and poverty. It is only through these community partnerships that we can ensure everyone in our communities are fed, and that hunger is no longer an issue for over 57,000 men, women, children seniors, and our veterans.”
