VisitNC Farms app to help local agribusiness

When you want to find good music, cheap gas, or connect with friends nearby you look to the apps on your phone. But what if you are looking for pick-your-own strawberries, a vineyard tour, or a farm venue for your event? Well, there is now an app for that too!

The Visit NC Farms Phone App was developed by the N.C. Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services to connect North Carolina residents and visitors to farmers and local food – and thanks to the efforts of Currituck Extension and Currituck Travel and Tourism, it is live in Currituck County.

This app also allows businesses to push notifications about local events and weekly specials to subscribers nearby. So locals, if you’re looking for things to do, jump onboard! The millions of visitors that travel through our county can also use the app to explore farms, farmers markets, and other agribusinesses and plan a visit.

Several agricultural related businesses are already live in the app so we encourage you to download it and share with visiting family and friends. The app can be downloaded from  www.visitNCfarmstoday.com.

NC Cooperative Extension in Currituck is coordinating the listing of businesses. If you own an agricultural related business open to public visitation and wish to be listed in the app, or contact Sherry Lynn, App Administrator at Sherry_Lynn@ncsu.edu, Cameron Lowe, County Extension Director at cameron_lowe@ncsu.edu, or call 252-232-2261.
