State transportation officials will host a virtual information meeting next month about the ongoing Rodanthe “Jug Handle” Bridge project.
The 2.4-mile-long bridge will extend over the Pamlico Sound between the southern end of the Pea Island National Wildlife Refuge and Rodanthe. The construction work that’s planned during the next month can be found on the NCDOT website.
The bridge is due for completion in the fall of 2021.
After the bridge is constructed, the existing N.C. 12 road at the southern end of the refuge will be removed and the land returned to its natural state.
The meeting will be held Thursday, June 4 from 6 to 8 p.m. To protect people during the COVID-19 pandemic, the meeting will be held virtually.
During the meeting, NCDOT officials and project engineers will provide an update on the project’s progress and answer questions.
