Virginia Brickhouse Ballance, age 85, of Lynch’s Corner Road, Elizabeth City, NC died at her home on Sunday, March 8, 2020.
Born in Chesapeake, VA on January 19, 1935 to the late William H. Brickhouse and Annie Brickhouse, she was the wife of Leonard Ballance of the residence.
In addition to her husband, she is survived by two daughters, Pat Ambrose (Billy) of Columbia, NC and Bobbie Sawyer of Elizabeth City, NC; four sons, Ronnie Brickhouse (Linda) of Suffolk, VA, Johnnie Ballance, David Ballance (Carol), and Ed Ballance (Lillie) all of Elizabeth City, NC; three sisters, Edna Ashley, Doris Ann Miller, and Faye Lane; three brothers, Marvin Brickhouse, Dave Brickhouse, and Russ Brickhouse; nine grandchildren, Charlotte Gibbs, Heather Ballance, Sarah Lamb, Kenny and Timmy Ballance, Charles and Steven Sawyer, David Sweet, and Jamie Brickhouse; and twelve great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by four brothers, Steve, Henry, Carl and George Brickhouse, a granddaughter, Crystal A. Jarvis, and a son in law, Charles Sawyer, Jr.
A memorial service will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Wednesday, March 11, 2020 at Twiford Memorial Chapel, officiated by Minister Kevin Reiver. The family will greet friends immediately following the service. At all other times, the family will be at the home of her daughter, Bobbie, 1201 Azalea Trail, Elizabeth City, NC.
