VIDEO: Surfrider Outer Banks Freezin’ For A Reason this Saturday benefits water quality monitoring program

The Surfrider Foundation Outer Banks Chapter is hosting the first Outer Banks “Freezin’ for a Reason” fundraiser this Saturday at the Ocean Bay Boulevard beach access in Kill Devil Hills beginning at 8 a.m. to benefit their Blue Water Task Force citizen water quality monitoring program.

The program is aimed at raising awareness of local pollution programs and bringing together communities to implement solutions.

The fundraiser includes three ways to be involved: Take the plunge yourself, donate to the chapter, or sponsor a “Celebrity Plunger” that includes the mayors of Nags Head, Kill Devil Hills, and Kitty Hawk and all Dare County Schools’ principals.

The fun doesn’t stop there. Immediately following the event, everyone and anyone is invited to Jack Brown’s KDH for an afterparty.

It includes a special breakfast menu and keg tapping for the public, plungers get a free breakfast, live music by “The Connection” out of Williamsburg and prize drawings fueled by local vendors and shops.
