VIDEO: No one hurt after garage catches fire in lower Currituck County

No one was hurt after a garage caught fire north of Aydlett in lower Currituck County around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday.

Firefighters were called to the 200 block of Narrow Shore Road where a barn-style garage behind a home was fully engulfed in flames.

The fire was quickly brought under control and no other structures were involved. Lower Currituck Volunteer Fire and Rescue remained on scene to monitor for spot fires.

The fire happened about five miles across the Currituck Sound from Corolla, and the smoke plume could be seen for miles around, and was fanned by north winds of 15 to 25 mph.

Along with Lower Currituck Volunteer Fire and Rescue, units from Crawford Volunteer Fire Department, Moyock Fire and Corolla Fire and Rescue, along with Currituck Fire and EMS responded to the scene.

Southern Shores and South Camden provided back-up coverage elsewhere in Currituck County during the incident. The cause of the fire was not immediately available.
