VIDEO: Dare County highlights completed renovation project at Dare County Regional Airport

Dare County has released a new video highlighting an important renovation project that was recently completed to replace the apron at the Dare County Regional Airport on Roanoke Island.

The Dare County Regional Airport has served the Outer Banks community since 1943 and facilitates more than 32,000 landings and takeoffs each year. After nearly 80 years of service, the airport’s apron—which is also known as a ramp or tarmac—had experienced significant wear and tear and was in need of a major renovation.

The much-needed project to replace the outdated and deteriorating apron got underway in November 2021 and was completed at the Dare County Regional Airport in May 2022.
