VIDEO: Dare County EMT Gina Dixon honored for decade of service

Gina Dixon, an Emergency Medical Technician for Dare County EMS, was recognized with a service pin presentation at the Dare County Board of Commissioners meeting held on March 1, 2021.

Dixon received a service pin commemorating 10 years of service to Dare County.

In 2011, Dixon was hired by the Dare County Department of Health & Human Services, where she worked in the mobile dental van with the Miles of Smiles program.

Dixon had previously been certified as an EMT, but her certification had expired, so she decided to return to school and become recertified. After volunteering thousands of hours with Dare County EMS, she accepted a full-time position with the department and transferred from the Department of Health & Human Services in May 2012. Dixon has also obtained her Advanced EMT certification.

She assists with the orientation training of new personnel as a field training officer, and she has received numerous accolades and compliments from patients and their families.

According to her colleagues, “Gina constantly seeks out additional projects around the EMS stations, and she is a master at organizing anything. She is quick to help other staff members and is a tremendous asset to the department.”
