VIDEO: Dare County commemorates renovated Department of Health & Human Services facility with ribbon-cutting

Dare County has released a video highlighting the ribbon-cutting ceremony that was held at 4 p.m. on Tuesday, May 24, 2022, to celebrate the recently renovated Dare County Department of Health & Human Services facility located at 109 Exeter Street in Manteo.

The project—which consisted of modernizing the two existing and outdated buildings on the Dare County Department of Health & Human Services campus, as well constructing a 6,500-square-foot addition between them that now serves as the main lobby and entrance—got underway in July 2020 and was completed in December 2021.

The ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the project’s completion featured remarks from Dare County Board of Commissioners Chairman Bob Woodard, Dare County Board of Commissioners Vice Chairman and Health & Human Services Board Member Wally Overman, and Dare County Department of Health & Human Services Director Dr. Sheila Davies.

From nutrition services and health education to disease control and substance abuse services, the Dare County Department of Health & Human Services provides a wide array of essential programs and services to members of the Outer Banks community.

Consolidating the Public Health Division and the Social Services Division into one facility provides patients with one convenient check-in location—which will improve privacy during the consultation process—and also makes it possible for staff members to more efficiently and effectively provide services to Dare County residents.
