One person was seriously hurt in a crash between a van and a tractor on N.C. 168 in northern Currituck County Thursday evening.
First responders were dispatched to the 1400 block of Caratoke Highway at 6:24 p.m., according to a news release from Currituck Fire and EMS Chief Ralph “Chip” Melton.
Nine people were in the van, and one person was operating the combine, Melton said.
A front seat passenger of the van sustained major facial injuries and was transported via Nightingale Air Ambulance to the trauma center at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital in serious condition. Others involved in the crash suffered just minor injuries.
The collision is under investigation by the N.C. Highway Patrol.
The Moyock Fire Department, Crawford Township Volunteer Fire Department and Currituck County Sheriff’s Office responded to the scene.
