UPDATED: Retired Norfolk teacher was the woman run over by fire vehicle in Rodanthe

There’s new information related to the incident in Rodanthe over the weekend involving a Chicamacomico Banks Fire Department vehicle.

Martha “Mike” Demontpellier, 70, a former teacher and school administrator from Norfolk, was the woman who died at Corbina Drive Saturday afternoon according to a report from WAVY-TV.

Further details have not been released by authorities, and the Dare County Sheriff’s Office investigation continues.

The Dare County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of a 70-year-old woman who was run over by a Chicamacomico Fire Department pickup truck in Rodanthe on Saturday afternoon.

Authorities with the sheriff’s office and the National Park Service were called to the area of Corbina Drive about 2:30 p.m. for a CPR in progress.

When they arrived they found that a 70-year-old female had been run over by a Chicamacomico Fire Department pickup truck, the sheriff’s office said in a news release.

She was pronounced deceased at the scene by Dare County EMS.

“The truck was exiting the beach using the access at the end of the road when the accident occurred,” the release said.

Authorities have not released the victim’s name or any further information on the case.
