An outage of unknown origin knocked out power to almost 1,200 customers of Dominion Energy in Colington and Kill Devil Hills this evening.
The blackout hit around 5 p.m., with several people hearing at least two loud booms prior to the lights going out. A few more flashes and booms were reported after the initial outage.

Dominion Energy’s outage map estimated restoration for the 1,164 customers would take place between 7 and 10 p.m. Electricity was restored just after 7 p.m.
