Gusty winds, soundside flooding possible as strong cold front moves through

A strong cold front will move through the Outer Banks tonight, with gusty winds and minor soundside flooding expected.

A wind advisory is in effect for Duck, Kitty Hawk, Kill Devil Hills, Nags Head and Manteo from 2 a.m. to 9 a.m. Saturday, with northwest winds of 25 to 35 mph and gusts up to 45 mph forecast.

A coastal flood advisory is in effect from 7 p.m. tonight to 1 a.m. Saturday for the same area. Up to one foot of inundation above ground level is expected for soundside locations near Oregon Inlet, and the Croatan and Roanoke sounds, said the National Weather Service Newport/Morehead City forecast office.
