Two women hurt after personal watercraft collision in Currituck Sound

Two women were hurt after a pair of personal watercraft collided in the northern Currituck Sound Friday afternoon.

The incident happened at 3 p.m. off the KOA Campground in Waterlily on the northern point of Church’s Island, according to N.C. Commission Wildlife Law Enforcement Sgt. Johnathan Beardsley.

A 60-year-old Camden resident was flown to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital for treatment. A 20-year-old from Wilmington was also injured. Beardsley both of the women are related to each other.

The collision remains under investigation by N.C. Wildlife Commission Law Enforcement. Also responding were the Lower Currituck Volunteer Fire Department, Currituck Fire-EMS and Currituck County Sheriff’s Office.
