Two Outer Banks authors are coming to Downtown Books of Manteo for “First Friday” on May 6th from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. for a double signing and launch party to celebrate the release of their latest publications.
Hannah Bunn West’s Remarkable Women of the Outer Banks was released by Arcadia Press in late April and takes a look at the remarkable trailblazing women—Virginia Tillet and Irene Tate—who have shaped Outer Banks history.
Alicia Bessette’s first book in her Outer Banks Bookshop mystery series, Smile Beach Murder, arrives from Berkley Books on May 10th, but will go on sale a few days early with special permission granted by the publisher. Smile Beach Murder is a cozy mystery set on the Outer Banks.
Hannah and Alicia will be signing and talking about their books, meeting friends and fans, and celebrating their accomplishments with Downtown Books.
Downtown Books also invites you to join them May 11th at the Dare County Arts Council for a special evening with Alicia Bessette in conversation with novelist and husband Matthew Quick where they’ll be talking murder, mysteries, writing and much more.

First Friday is a fun, family friendly event taking place throughout Downtown Manteo and features live music throughout town, later shop hours, restaurant specials, art show openings, trunk show, book signings and more. It’s a great place to meet friends and enjoy a night out.
