Two dead, four injured, suspect in custody after shooting at UNC Charlotte

Two people are dead, four people were injured and the suspect was in custody after a shooting Tuesday evening on the last day of spring classes at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.

The suspect has been identified as a 22-year-old who dropped out of UNCC earlier this semester, according to local media outlets. The names of those killed and injured have not been released.

Three of the wounded were reported to have life-threatening injuries.

The shootings happened around 5:40 p.m. WCNC-TV reported it took place in a classroom where students were giving a presentation, and the two deceased individuals were men.

News Talk 1110 WBT reported exams have been cancelled through Monday at the school on the northeast side of North Carolina’s largest city, where a number of students from the Outer Banks attend.
