Every year the North Carolina Memorial Day Parade honors those who made the ultimate sacrifice to secure and preserve our freedom and our country. As the community recognizes the service of our military and our veterans, State Treasurer Dale Folwell, C.P.A., will lead a procession to the stadium and address the community as the keynote speaker during the ceremony.

Treasurer Folwell will join veterans, Gold Star Families and community leaders in downtown Thomasville to celebrate veterans, their families and the American military on Monday, May 30, at 9:00 a.m. The Treasurer will head the parade with Austin Conrad, a 100-year-old World War II veteran. The Memorial Day procession will begin in downtown Thomasville with Gold Star Families, military vehicles, and 50 flags carried by military personnel, veterans or volunteers. The procession will end at the Cushwa Stadium with a ceremony that will begin at 10:00 a.m.

During the ceremony, Gold Star Families will be specifically invited to sit on the field during the ceremony to remember their sacrifice. The Ceremony will include the pledge, the national anthem, the presentation of 50 American flags, remarks to honor military and veterans present, as well as the Gold Star Families, and a keynote speech by Treasurer Folwell. The Special Forces Parachute Team will then jump into the field with various flags.
