The remnants of Zeta are bringing gusty winds, rain and the possibility of minor soundside flooding through early Saturday.
Strong southwest winds through tonight will cause minor flooding on the soundside, especially from Hatteras village north, the National Weather Service says.
A wind advisory is in effect through 7 am. Friday, with sustained southwest winds of 25 to 35 mph with gusts up to 50 mph.
As southwest winds shift to the northwest on Friday, which is expected to occur from 7 a.m. to noon, water level rises are expected along soundside areas of Ocracoke and southern Hatteras Island.
Rough surf and a strong longshore current are also expected, especially for the south-facing beaches off Frisco, Hatteras village and Ocracoke.
Isolated thunderstorms and a few tornadoes are also possible for eastern N.C. after midnight on Thursday.
Zeta made landfall along the southeast Louisiana coast Thursday as a category 2 hurricane, becoming the tenth named storm to landfall in the continental United States this year.
