VIDEO: Police search for person-of -interest in Walmart self-checkout incident

Kitty Hawk police are looking for a man who took $80 mistakenly left by a previous customer at a Walmart self-service register, then used it to buy his own items.

On Friday, March 29, 2019 around 12:30 p.m. a white male wearing a black ball cap, white t-shirt, black board shorts with tattoos on his left and right inside forearms and right calf took $80.00 at the self service checkout of Walmart in Kitty Hawk that was mistakenly left by the previous customer. The subject then used the money to pay for his purchases. He left the store and returned to buy more items with the money. On his return he purchased beer and showed his driver's license. The incident happened about 12:30 p.m. on Friday. A man wearing a black ball cap, white t-shirt and black board shorts with tattoos on his left and right inside forearms and right calf took the $80 and used the money to pay for his purchases, Kitty Hawk police said in a Facebook post.

He left the store and returned to buy more items with the money, including Ding Dongs and Bud Light. He showed his driver’s license, which appeared to be a Virginia-issued license.

Anyone with information about the man’s identity is asked to message town police on Facebook or call the department at 252-261-3895.
