A pair of long-time visitors to Corolla have shared details with us about the recent heroic acts by an Outer Banks lifeguard.

Angela and David Smith of from Burke, Virginia sent an email Monday with video and details about Ariel Becker’s actions during the July Fourth holiday weekend.

We have reached out to Corolla Ocean Rescue to let them know how proud they should be of one of their own.

Read more of what the Smith’s had to say about this heroic young lady:

This amazing lifeguard, Ariel Becker, saved six lives in the Ocean Sands section of Corolla in one day last week and two on Sunday.

We got to witness her save a few of these lives. Truly heroic. In the 42 years my husband and I have been coming to the beach, we have never seen a life guard have to go in the water. This week we saw two!

I feel that this young lady needs to be recognized for her heroism. I know it’s her job, but she does it with grace and is so humble about it.

We witnessed her run down the beach at least 200 yards in a full sprint, then swim out to the person/persons in need and then drag them back to shore.

She proceeded to climb back into the lifeguard chair and wait to do it all over again. I am exhausted just thinking about it, LOL.

Please consider doing a piece on her and the amazing life guards at OBX.
