VIDEO: Outer Banks first responders host drive-by birthday parade for Manteo boy

Dare County first responders made Ivy Gray's birthday a special one.

A parade of first responders helped a special Manteo boy celebrate his 14th birthday on Monday.

His mother, Megan Gray, posted on Facebook asking folks to drive by and honk. But a family member who works in Dare County communications had a better idea, and put out the word to Dare County sheriff’s on duty today.

Other agencies who got involved included Manteo police, the Roanoke Island Fire department, the Dare County Fire Marshal’s Office and Dare County EMS.

Ivy Gray loves everything to do with fire, EMS and police, his mom said.

“Ivy has overcome many medical obstacles in his short 14 years,” Megan Gray said in an email. “You would never know the struggles he has been through with his huge heart and smile!”
