The Currituck Board of Commissioners voted Monday night to place an end date of April 30 on the current state of emergency order issued earlier this month, but have left open the option to evaluate the decision in three weeks.
The board has scheduled their next meeting for April 20 when they could make adjustments to the expiration date, if necessary.
The order includes restriction on access for non-resident property owners and visitors to Corolla and the four-wheel drive area, requiring appointments for the public to visit county offices, keeping county facilities and parks closed, and cancelling all county events and meetings.

Health officials said Sunday that Currituck County had its first case of coronavirus.
The person is in isolation and health officials will be contact tracing “all individuals who may have had close contact with the case,” Albemarle Health Services said in a news release.
Close contacts are defined as having direct contact with, or been within six feet for at least 10 minutes, of a case-patient while not wearing recommended personal protective equipment. Caregivers and household members of the case-patient are considered close contacts.
Health official did not identify where in the county the case originated or how the patient contracted COVID-19, whether travel, close contact or community spread.
