Two men from Currituck County and a Virginia woman have been arrested in connection with a shooting early Tuesday in Kill Devil Hills.

Kill Devil Hills Police were dispatched at approximately 1:45 a.m. following a 911 call concerning a shooting incident on Elizabeth City Street.

The caller said their friend had been shot and provided a description of the vehicle being driven by the suspects, according to a KDHPD news release.

Devlin Williams, 18, of Kill Devil Hills was transported by his friends to Outer Banks Hospital for a gunshot wound. He was later flown to Sentara Norfolk General Hospital due to the severity of his injuries.

An all-points bulletin was issued, and the vehicle was spotted a short time later by Currituck County Sheriff’s Office deputies, who detained the three individuals inside.

Vashon Omar James II, 20, and Naseem James, both of Grandy, and Harley Saelens, 19, of Lynchburg, Virginia, have been charged with one count of felony assault with a deadly weapon inflicting serious injury.

All three were being held at the Dare County Detention Center in lieu of $35,000 secured bond.

“The Kill Devil Hills Police Department is grateful for the assistance of the Currituck County Sheriff’s Office and the Dare County Sheriff’s Office that provided invaluable personnel support during the investigation,” said Chief Gary Britt.

“Our thanks also to the telecommunicators who helped coordinate the quick and successful response to this incident,” Britt said.
