Cape Lookout National Seashore officials want to talk to anyone who saw a white/silver Jeep Wrangler with two young men standing on the outside step rails while it drove at a high rate of speed south down the beach in connection with the May 22 disappearance of a soldier from Fort Bragg.

The U.S. Army and the National Park Service are still searching for missing soldier Enrique Roman Martinez, who was last seen May 22 at Cape Lookout south of the Outer Banks.

Roman-Martinez, 21, was last seen at a campsite near Mile Marker 46 on South Core Banks, one of the islands that make up Cape Lookout National Seashore.

Roman-Martinez’s friends reported him missing the evening of Saturday, May 23. His phone and wallet were found at the campsite and he was last seen wearing blue shorts and no shirt.

Roman-Martinez is of Hispanic descent and is approximately 5’4” tall and weighs approximately 120 pounds. He has black hair and brown eyes.

An extensive search by boat, air and on foot continues by military and civilian law enforcement, Fort Bragg officials said in a news release.

Cape Lookout officials on Friday put out a request for witnesses who may have seen a speeding Jeep over Memorial Day weekend. The Jeep would have been followed by a bright blue Ford Ranger pickup.

If you saw this pair of vehicles driving around, especially with the two young men hanging on the side of the Jeep, on Friday or Saturday of Memorial Day Weekend, get in touch with park rangers at 252-725-4116.

Anyone with any information on Roman-Martinez’s disappearance is asked to contact Army CID Special Agents at 910-396-8777 or the Military Police Desk at 910-396-1179. They can also contact their local law enforcement agencies.
