Replacement is underway of a metal traffic signal support arm in Nags Head that was damaged by last week’s strong winds.

Crews began working Monday afternoon at the intersection of U.S. 158 and Adams Lane/Admiral Street at mile post 10.5 to replace the signal assembly over the northbound lanes of South Croatan Highway.

UPDATED, 5 p.m.: Northbound traffic is currently allowed to travel through the intersection. Access to East Admiral Street is closed, while those leaving Nags Head Acres are only allowed to turn right, said Nags Head Deputy Police Chief Perry Hale.

The stop lights will be off during the replacement, and officers will be at the intersection directing traffic until the work is complete.
