After moving this year’s TowneBank Outer Banks Marathon to a virtual event, Outer Banks Sporting Events has decided they will have to shift the Southern Fried Half Marathon and Living Swell 5K to virtual as well.

OBSE has posted details about how to sign-up for the virtual runs or defer registration to 2021 on their website:

“We are extremely sad and perhaps a bit deflated after exhausting all efforts to make all parties involved feel secure in permitting us to go live. So many of you have become our friends and part of our running family. We wanted nothing more than to bring you a safe and enjoyable event. However, all involved supportive parties must feel secure in this decision.”

OBSE director Jenny Ash was our guest Monday on OBX Today on News Talk 92.3 WZPR to explain what went into the decision, and also details about what will still be taking place locally on Veterans Day weekend.
