Following adoption of the Duck Comprehensive and CAMA Land Use Plan by the Duck Town Council earlier this month, the plan will be proceeding to the North Carolina Coastal Resources Commission to be considered for certification.

The public had a chance to review the plan at several events at Duck’s Town Hall over the past year. [Jay McLeod/Stewart Inc.]

The land use plan is the culmination of extensive public participation, including stakeholder meetings, public surveys, open houses, and public comments over the past year. Throughout the process, a council-appointed advisory committee has provided review and guidance.

The plan was designed to help Duck experience lower losses from disaster recovery, infrastructure maintenance, subsequent degradation in environmental quality, quality of life, property values and financial solvency.

Jay McLeod, with Stewart, Inc., was manager of the project for the town, and was a guest with Sam Walker on OBX Today on Friday on The All New News Talk 92.3 WZPR to talk about details of the plan and how Duck can prepare for the climate’s changing future.
