Pair of juveniles face charges after vehicle chase Tuesday in Camden County

Two juveniles were taken into custody Tuesday morning after a vehicle chase in Camden County.

The chase started around 11 a.m. after a sheriff’s deputy spotted the car being driven recklessly westbound on U.S. 158, according to a statement from Camden County Sheriff J. Kevin Jones.

Multiple law enforcement vehicles attempted to stop the suspects, but eventually they were slowed by traffic at the Pasquotank River Bridge in Elizabeth City.

“The suspect attempted to maneuver between stationary motorists,” Jones said. “A vehicle from the Sheriff’s Office was used to position itself in a manner to prevent further flight by the suspects.”

The pair of teens were taken into custody without incident. Jones said evidence of additional crimes was located within the vehicle.

“We are actively cooperating with the Elizabeth City Police Department and the Pasquotank County Sheriff’s Office, who are also conducting investigations related to these juveniles in their jurisdictions,” Jones said.

Details about the two juveniles are not being released due to state law. Charges are still pending in the case.
