Nearly 500 turn out for racial equality rally in Manteo

A peaceful crowd, almost all wearing masks, listening to speakers at the COA campus.

A crowd of around 500 people gathered in Manteo on Tuesday evening for a peaceful rally to remember those lost to police violence.

The event, hosted by the Dare Minority Coalition with the support of local law-enforcement, brought young and old to the lawn of the COA campus for speeches, songs and eight minutes, 46 seconds of silence in to honor George Floyd, who died May 25 after a Minneapolis police officer kept his knee on Floyd’s neck for that amount of time.
