A 61-year-old man died accidentally after he was discovered under a vehicle Friday morning in the backyard of a home on Roanoke Island.
The Dare County Sheriff’s Office, Dare County EMS and Roanoke Island Volunteer Fire Department were dispatched to Scuppernong Road in Manteo around 11:30 a.m.
When deputies arrived they found the man trapped under a vehicle in the backyard of a residence, according to Lt. Kevin Duprey.
The deputies and a neighbor were able to lift the vehicle enough for the man to be pulled out, and EMS and deputies began to perform CPR. They were unable to revive the victim.
Duprey said the incident has been ruled a “tragic accident”, and the victim’s name was not being released.
