Local and regional law enforcement, fire departments, EMS and other agencies will be taking part in active threat joint readiness exercises Tuesday and Thursday in Kill Devil Hills.
The exercises will take place at the First Flight school campuses both days, with a significant number of first responders and emergency vehicles at the schools, which are on spring break.
“The purpose of the exercise is to focus on the emergency response to an active assailant incident at our schools,” the Kill Devil Hills Police Department posted on their Facebook page.
There will also be realistic radio traffic on the local fire, rescue and police frequencies during the exercises, which will be prefaced by “This is an exercise. This is an exercise.”
The exercises will not be open to the public.
