The N.C. Department of Transportation will be closing part of U.S. 158 near Whalebone Junction Tuesday evening to repair the overhead signs adjacent to The Outlets in Nags Head.

“There are two signs being replaced, one of which was partially blown down and the other was completely blown down,” said NCDOT spokesperson Tim Hass.

“It will be night work beginning around 6 p.m.,” Hass said. “As long as the weather and winds hold out we will proceed with the replacements.”

Traffic will be rerouted on to the Beach Road (South Virginia Dare Trail) via Gull Street during the closure that is expected to last until 3 a.m. Wednesday, according to the Nags Head Police Department.
