Dare County health officials on Sunday reported that testing of patients and staff at the Peak Resources nursing home in Nags Head has resulted in two additional positive coronavirus cases, for a total of five at the facility.
Dare County now has 15 positive COVID-19 cases. Of those, eight have recovered/or are asymptomatically cleared (meaning they are seven days post testing with no symptoms), five are asymptomatic (meaning they have not experienced any COVID-19 symptoms), one is recovering at home and one died. The two additional cases at peak are both asymptomatic.
In North Carolina, there are currently 4,520 cases of COVID-19 in 91 counties. There have been 81 fatalities in the state associated with COVID-19. Currently, state health officials are reporting 331 hospitalizations from COVID-19 illness.
With the holiday and spring break from remote schooling for Dare County students this coming week, Dare health officials remind everyone to continue to follow the guidelines that are in place for slowing the spread of COVID-19. Restrict all non-essential movement, only go out when necessary, avoid direct contact, other than immediate family members and practice good hygiene. This information may seem repetitive, but it is critical in the fight against the spread of COVID-19.
