Currituck to bring elementary students back Oct. 26, high schools to remain virtual

Currituck County Schools will bring elementary students back to classrooms four days-a-week starting October 26.

Currituck High School and J.P. Knapp Early College will stay virtual through at least the end of semester in December. Details about the schedule for middle school students will be announced in the next few days.

The Currituck County Board of Education reviewed four options for the second nine weeks on Tuesday and approved Option Two, according to a press release.

Pre-K to fifth grade students will return to full-time, in-person instruction Monday through Thursday, and then have a half-day of remote instruction on Fridays.

A Virtual Learning Survey has reopened on the Currituck County Schools website for Pre-K through fifth grade families to reassess their decision based on the plan. The Virtual Learning Teacher Application has also reopened.

Bus registration forms is also posted to the website for PreK-5 families to complete who have chosen to return to in-person instruction and require transportation.

Teacher workdays have been set for Oct. 16, 19-20, with no school for students.

On Oct. 21, orientations Scheduled for all PreK-5 families. Students with last names A-M will be at schools on Oct. 22 and N-Z on Oct. 23. Family groups will be permitted to attend together.

All virtual students will begin school on October 22, and all PreK-5 students will begin in-person instruction together on Oct. 26.
