With the possibility of snow on the way overnight, Currituck County Schools will be closed for both in-person and virtual learning Thursday, Jan. 27. Dare County school buildings will be closed, but virtual learning will continue.

In a note to parents posted on Facebook, Superintendent Matt Lutz told families to enjoy a snow day Thursday.

“One thing the pandemic cannot cancel however is the excitement and anticipation of the first snow day of the year!” Lutz said in a note adapted from the Jefferson County, W.Va. school system. “There truly is something magical about watching children enjoy the smallest dusting of snow or the lightest of flurries falling from the sky.”

Dare County schools said school facilities will be closed tomorrow for students and staff, but remote instruction continues. The feeding programs won’t operate tomorrow but plans to reopen Friday, weather permitting.
