The Currituck County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a voicemail late Monday afternoon communicating against a threat against Moyock Middle School.

The sheriff’s office was contacted and reported to the school immediately, the school system said in a Facebook post this morning. Additional law enforcement officers will be visible on campus throughout the day.

“Please rest assured that our staff responded appropriately to ensure the safety and well being of all students,” school officials said. “Fortunately, we have an excellent relationship with local law enforcement, which responds immediately and assists us in every way possible.”

School officials said they had limited information about the threat but deputies are treating the incident as high priority and a full investigation is underway.
